Rockwater Farm

Ann Furr, DVM
Owner

About Ann:

Ann grew up “in the country” in Dallas, N.C., and began to love horses from afar, while watching over the fence at the neighbor's horse farm. Finally after years of longing, Ann was rewarded with her own first horse, Sasha, a kind racking horse on which she spent many hours bareback exploring the woods on the farm, with a German Shepherd dog name Lady. One night, Sasha escaped the fence and wandered up the dirt road and became injured. The veterinarian was called, and he sutured the wound while Ann assisted. She was hooked. After graduating from North Carolina State in 1984 with a bachelor of science in Zoology, Ann went on to graduate from Veterinary School at North Carolina State in 1988.

She has worked primarily as a small animal veterinarian and enjoys the horses with her family with a special passion, appreciation and care. She believes in the character building and courage that involvement with horses promotes. Besides running the farm, Ann stays involved in the local community through leadership of a 4-H equestrian group, as well as serving on the board of the NC Horse Council, the local Rowan County planning board and Agricultural Advisory Board.
